He was born on 4 October 1923 in 28 Sheraton Street, Darlington, Co Durham. He was the son of Bertie Outhwaite and Esther Terry. Harold Outhwaite was brought up by his grandmother, Annie Outhwaite (née Turner) after his mother deserted him circa April 1924. He married Margaret Dawson, daughter of Herbert Dawson and Jane Cruddace, on 24 December 1949 in Easington, Co Durham. Harold Outhwaite died on 9 March 2001 in Memorial Hospital, Darlington, Co Durham, at age 77. Harold died of pulmonary embolism & liver cancer. He was cremated on 13 March 2001 in Darlington Crematorium, Darlington, Co Durham.
